This 110kV ABB S.A Transformer was qualified for installation in a very high seismic region in Northern Chile.  The unit was qualified by dynamic analysis as required by Transelec Specification ETG-A.0.20 for equipment with primary natural resonance of less than 30Hz.

A complete Finite Element (FE) model was prepared.  A dynamic modal analysis of the complete model was conducted to investigate the natural resonance of the core and coil assembly, main tank, and all appendages. Dynamic analysis provides a more comprehensive understanding of the complete system and illustrates interaction between components with similar natural resonance frequencies.
